Sasha has been training in fine art since her teens. Initially she trained in the workshops of famed Corfu artists Spyros Alamanos, Nerina Lymperopoulou, and Aggelos Gerakaris, and later attended Vakalo School of Fine Art in Athens. She held her first solo exhibition aged 22, in 2000, followed by four further exhibitions in her home town of Corfu, all while continuing her academic studies in Communications and Literature. Not satisfied with the options open to her, Sasha spent a decade in academia, studying the History of Culture and Western Esotericism, with the aim of better understanding the symbolic vocabularies available from long lost traditions. During this “dry” artistic period she painted portraits on commission and began exploring Symbolism more systematically. She began painting and exhibiting regularly again in 2014, on the completion of her PhD. The same year saw her undertake management of ICON Gallery in Corfu town, where she gathered and promoted local artists working in traditional media, alongside her own work. A series of international exhibitions and collaborations quickly followed, until 2018 when personal bereavement led to a temporary hiatus. Nevertheless, that year saw the birth of The Attic Gallery, the only contemporary private art gallery in Corfu Town, and new, fruitful collaborations with artists from across Greece and further afield. As of 2020, Sasha has begun new projects reflecting her enduring passion for neosymbolist art and alchemical emblems. Working to a project-based approach, Sasha incorporates her art into her scholarship, and her research into her art. See below for her most recent work. This page is updated frequently.
